This is one of the nicest campgrounds we’ve ever visited. (Disclaimer: weather was perfect, no bugs, not crowded. Maumee Bay SP campground is well-designed and well-maintained. 10 miles from Toledo — easy to visit museums, Glass City Metropark, and restaurants. And the state park includes lovely beach on Lake Erie.

State Park Near Shenandoah National Park. This Virginia State Park is just west of the more famous Shenandoah National Park. There are cabins (more like small homes, they are not rustic), yurts and camping. Some of the camping sites are on the water. There are also plenty of trails and many scenic views.
Park is very well maintained with many different trails in varying lengths. The trails were marked very clearly and the maps were easy to read. There is plenty of parking, they have a nice visitors center, and the fee to enter was $5. We did see different wildlife while on the trail; some frogs, a snake, a crane, and an osprey. The best State park campground ever. Beautiful area, plenty of lake activities, nice sand beach, well marked and maintained trails. Loaded with deer. Bathrooms and showers were spotless.
