I arrived to pick up my rental with my $480 9 day rental reservation that I had made with Southwest Airlines. One hour of lies and games, trying to rent me a Jeep for $3000. Telling me they didn’t have my car because it was peak season, trying to charge me $100 a day for insurance, every lie and scam you can imagine.
Beware travelers Hertz Cancun Airport. On the last rental we waited 2 hours 40 minutes. The reason that the wait increases is due to unwarranted pressure from unscrupulous trained customer service reps vampiring the public. In Mexico, if not mistaken, the third party damages coverage is 100,000 pesos to humans and 50,000 to property.
Credit card charged $1500.00!!! $1000.00 of taxes, false upgrade, and random services. We declined all, charged for all to the enormous sum of $1500.00!!! It is a total scam. If renting from any agency in Cancun be sure to do a complete video inspection with your smart phone documenting all damages inside/out and specifically the tires.. When we returned our last rental, which was a sub compact with tire the size of a motorcycle, there was a "bubble" in the sidewall (probably from the previous renters going over a speed bump to fast).
In fact Hertz USA cannot even help or assist with any car rental issues, should you encounter them, with these Mexican posers. There are many, many TA threads about the reputable car rental companies in Cancun and Hertz is not among them. (Nothing against Hertz USA, in fact I quite prefer them myself. Answer 1 of 5: There are other posts about the deviant business practices of this place. Beware of Hertz Car Rental Agency at the Cancun Airport. It is not a Hertz Corporation office, but a private licensee of Hertz.
