    A travel forum is not really the right forum for this question. Oh, and Freehold means the land is alienated to you in perpetuity whereas Leasehold the land is alienated to you on a fix tenure say 99 years, after which the government takes back the land.

They had done one visa run, and then embarked on a second one to Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand etc.

    3. Re: Buying property. 16 years ago. The rules changed sometimes in 2007. You need to be a resident (have your papers) to buy property as well as need a Chinese name. In some cities (such as Shanghai, Beijing and Tianjin) you need to have been a resident for one year. Opening a bank account in China is no big deal.
