As a new user of the TripAdvisor forums, I would suggest reading the "sticky" at the top of the forum’s page before posting in any forum. The sticky will explain the focus/purpose of the forum and other important details. As an example, the sticky for this forum reads; “PLEASE READ: How to use this forum” and has a pushpin icon beside it.
In case another member reads the title of this thread and wonders how long for a review to be published..... in general, I think most reviews are published within 2 or 3 days. Some reviews are pulled aside for a more thorough look and might take a week or two. And anyone can contact TA staff to ask about the status of their review.
First off, let's clear a few things up. You don't have to stay at a hotel to write a review. You just need to have a substantial customer service experience with the hotel. Also, management cannot simply contest a review and have it removed. Reviews must adhere to posting guidelines.
Hi coug1920; There are three key things that factor into the popularity index; • the number of reviews. • how favourable the reviews are. • how old or recent the reviews are. TripAdvisor also takes into consideration guidebooks and news articles, when available. It is not just based on the reviews and ratings you can see on the page.

Especially with a newer member, the concern is that the review is to provide positive feedback for employees that may result in compensation for them.
