Welcome. FYI, this is the more general New York State forum. You'll get more responses if you post on the New York City forum. Be that as it may, I prefer Google. Mapquest used to be notorious for incorrect and bass-ackwards routes.

5. Re: Walking from Penn St Station to 48th St/8th Ave. 8 years ago. Let's do the measurements: There are 20 numbered streets to a mile; so from 33rd to 48th is 15 blocks or 3/4 mile. Then there's the half avenue distance to the hotel; at 7 numbered avenues to a mile, that is 1/14 of a mile (average), so the total distance is less than one mile.

1. Re: Google Maps walking times. First, use the subway. If you choose to walk, I would add 10 minutes for short distances and 20+ minutes for long distances, just to be safe. Once you start to understand how long it takes you to walk from A to B across streets/avenues, then you can adjust.
