You may not see it listed as a drop fee, but as a higher daily rate than returning it to point of origin. As dat says, look into taking Amtrak 'Cascades' up to Vancouver ...

I've always had excellent service from Hertz at YVR, and there is a Hertz location right at YEG. Avis, National & Enterprise are also located on-site at YEG. One way rentals, which will as noted, incur a drop fee, are almost always done airport to airport.
1) no idea. 2) the "lots" are in the parking garage across the road/bridge from the arrivals area. The check in counters are in the same area. So the longer walk would be to get to the Rental counters; might be a good idea to ask for assistance.
