   Thrifty Honolulu airport rent a car sent a letter charging $43.00 for gas after a week we returned the car with full gas. The charge is being disputed with the same credit card company we charged the gas prior to returning the car to Thrifty. Looks like most reviews had the same issues of scamming car renters with additional charge for gas!

   Call the local number of the Thrifty on Maui the day before your trip or even the day of the trip to say your flight has been changed, please hold the car. I would not call the national customer service number or they might try to change the rate. Do keep checking to see if rates drop closer to your trip.

   9 years ago. Thank you. I just checked Yelp reviews and Dollar gets 1.5 stars and Thrifty gets 2.5 stars. Both have over 100 reviews. Thrifty complaints seem to be long waits. Dollar seems to be long waits and unexpected charges that weren't agreed to. Thrifty seems to be the best of the two. Report inappropriate content.

   Thrifty Car Rental at the Honolulu Airport is one of the most mismanaged businesses I have ever seen. We had reserved our vehicle 1 month in advance. Upon arrival to Thrifty, we encountered a "check-in" line with over 175 people (the line snaked around the entire lobby and continued outside close to the elevators).
