Every garage will be happy to have you there for a couple of hours and have you pay $20. And they will be glad to let you stay overnight and charge you $40 per night.
Also, I've noticed that Best Parking requires you to pre-pay now, it used to be you could just print the coupon and drive up. I've been using Park Whiz lately with good results and what I especially like is that you can cancel up to the last moment so you can reserve and pre-pay but if, when you get in, you manage to find a free spot you can ...

While I'm there I will be sporadically driving around to different places within 1 hour of Manhattan. Sometimes I might come and go twice a day but usually just once.
