2. Re: Hertz location in Manhattan. 5 years ago. It's difficult to operate a lot of businesses in urban settings. I hated the Hertz in Paris where I had to drive the car down a tiny ramp to the seventh sub-basement and slide the car into a microscopic stall, without anyone from the company inspecting the car for me! I did exactly this. Picked up in Midtown and drove to PA. I rented from Hertz and the car pickup was in a local garage less than a block from the Hilton on 6th Ave. It was an easy drive out of the city to PA. The current Hertz location in Midtown is = Hertz Car Rental - 55th Street West - Midtown Between 6th And 7th Avenue HLE

There are numerous offices of the major car rental agencies and I would pick one that is near either the FDR or the West Side highway, depending on where your hotel is. then just hop in a cab with your luggage, go to the office and that way you only have to drive a few blocks in the city to get to a major highway headed out of town.

What I don’t like about Hertz, they charge you each and every day of the rental, even if you never go through another toll. The max is $24 or so, but it’s just flat out wrong.
