The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route (立山黒部アルペンルート, Tateyama Kurobe Arupen Rūto) is a mountain sightseeing route between Tateyama, Toyama and Ōmachi, Nagano, Japan. Opened on June 1, 1971, it is 37 kilometres (23 miles) long, with a difference in elevation of as much as 1,975 metres (6,480 feet).
The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine (pronounced “Alpen”) Route is known as the “Roof of Japan”. The route passes through the dynamic scenery of Mt. Tateyama in the Japan Alps. The Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route "Pass" is for the Keio Highway Bus from Shinjuku. Your 8:15 bus from Nagano is operated by Alpico. It's and"express" bus going to Ogisawa. Then you can catch the electric bus going to Kurobe Dam, etc.
D4 - that's a rush thru' crossing the Alpine route. On average allow 5 to 6 hours to cross one-way from Ogizawa to Tateyama. If you're travelling from July till end Oct there're plenty of spots+hiking trails from Murodo @2400m to Bijodaira @1100m worthy to spend at least o/n.

If you intend to do so, stay overnight in Omachi onsen at the foothills of Ogizawa - the eastern entrance/exit of the route.
