4. Re: Cheapest supermarket chains. 11 years ago. IMHO, VONS (a Safeway company) and Ralphs are the most expensive in SoCal for Main Stream. Albertsons can be a bit less. Gelson's and Whole Foods are the most expensive, IMHO. If you want a Healthy Grocery Store, check out Sprouts Farmers Market in Southern California.
Pavilions. Pavilions is a grocery store banner used by Vons, a supermarket division of Albertsons in Southern California. Although similar to Vons stores, Pavilions markets are more upscale and feature a larger selection of organic food, wine, and other specialty foods. A location in Anaheim Hills in March, 2010 (Store #2216).
Now, for the greatest selection, you can go to Von's in Bishop. Big retail store, part of a big chain. Next to that is the K-Mart. Look for the signs as you start to head out of town. It's pretty hard to miss, though. Now, locally in Bishop, there's another Joseph's Bi-Rite Market. Nice, friendly people in a small town store.

Yes, I live in San Pedro and that Von's (on Gaffey between 12th and 13th) would work OK, not my favorite store, I like the one at 25th and Western much better, but for just snacks, water, etc it will work just fine.
