Now seniors can get a free Clipper Card (regular price $5) and load cash - it will be just like the old paper ticket, giving you 60% or whatever discount they offer. The same card can be used on MUNI buses and metro, and probably on Golden Gate transit.
A senior arriving at SFO intending to round trip on BART can save money, it takes a little extra time, by purchasing a Green [Senior] BART card for $9. One way regular fare is $8.65. San Francisco forums. Margo G. 2 posts. Bart. 1 year ago. I am flying into SFO on Oct. 25. I read that I cannot purchase an actual Clipper card at SFO, but will need to purchase a paper ticket at the airport. I will be taking BART from SFO to Powell St on the 25th and on the 28th will be taking BART from Powell St to Downtown Berkeley.
I guess I'll find out about the senior fare when we get on the bus and ask the driver. $1.50 is better than $3.00 but not a big deal. As for the cable car, at $8.00 a ride, I guess it is not really a viable means of transportation any more, just a tourist attraction. We have ridden it a couple of times on past trips.
