A senior arriving at SFO intending to round trip on BART can save money, it takes a little extra time, by purchasing a Green [Senior] BART card for $9. One way regular fare is $8.65. For $9, a senior could travel round trip from SFO downtown and back, plus make one round trip to downtown Oakland, leaving only 10 cents full fare on that card.

I know MUNI makes you show ID for senior Fast Passes (but not senior cash fares), so I assume BART asks for ID also for the discount tickets. Painnurse, it's not a senior "fare" so much as a discounted high-value card; as WD says, you pay $9 and get a BART ticket loaded with $24.

Half price - and the discounts are stackable, so if you qualify for youth/senior discount, and have the appropriate discount Clipper Card (order one!), you will pay half of the *discounted* fare! Only applies to fares paid by Clipper Card (which is most BART fares these days), and only on BART.

I guess I'll find out about the senior fare when we get on the bus and ask the driver. $1.50 is better than $3.00 but not a big deal. As for the cable car, at $8.00 a ride, I guess it is not really a viable means of transportation any more, just a tourist attraction. We have ridden it a couple of times on past trips.
