   minivan parking in Manhattan. 7 years ago. Hello all, We have a minivan that we want to leave in a parking garage for two days during our visit in NYC. I looked at spothero to see garages and rates. I found one for $48 -most probably will charge extra $20-30 for the minivan. However, most the parking garages say the following in the instructions:

   You can park for $10/day in Weehawken, NJ at the port imperial ferry terminal. The ferry over to Manhattan isn't cheap ($8/person) so it depends on how long you're staying as to whether this makes financial sense. You can take a bus from there which is cheaper but not quite as convenient.

Many garages don't allow oversize vehicles because they either won't fit in the elevator ( to get vehicles to a higher level) or won't fit in the stacking devices used by garages.

What I don’t like about Hertz, they charge you each and every day of the rental, even if you never go through another toll. The max is $24 or so, but it’s just flat out wrong.

   Not to overanalyze, but be aware that most parking in NYC is indoors and valet-service. Some garages simply aren't high enough inside to take SUVs at all. And others charge a flat surcharge per day for them, which is, microeconomically at least, justified by the space occupied.
