15 years ago. Thanks to a tip on Mousesavers for rental car codes, I stumbled on a Walmart coupon code for Budget. Mousesavers said the code is for Walmart customers (ie everyone) and didn't list any other stipulations. Anyhow, without the code, total cost for an intermediate car is $269. With the Walmart code, the cost is an amazing $155.
-Hawaiian airlines discount with Avis: K816401 (This one tends to be the cheapest)-Island air discount with Budget: U030087-Other rental car options include Discount hawaii car rental, Adventures rent-a-jeep (used cheap 4x4s), Costco, Priceline and Expedia. I'm sure there are lots more options, but found these to be the best.
Most rental car agencies, and in my own experience Avis is now part of this, do not charge a separate "One Way Fee" any more but instead work it into the "Base Rate". Also, many regions are run as a conglomerate where for many rates you can pick up or drop off anywhere (major locations at least).

I have a booking starting 18th July and I emailed them with the code and my booking reference number. They modified the booking and initiated a refund of the discount amount in no time.
I’ll start this one off as I’ve just finalised my trip. This is my current plan: 24 Sept - 8 Oct on KLM direct. Originally this trip was planned to be in Vegas for my sister-in-law’s 50th for just one week but we added an extra week for the Eagles on the 27th and now may add Raiders game and also head out to Aviators as the Triple A National Championship will be at the Ballpark that weekend.
