7 helpful votes. East or West side of island? 10 years ago. My husband and I are going to Puerto Rico for 9 days in mid-April and I am torn on which side of the island we should stay on. Right now we have reservations on the west side and I really like the oceanfront apartment in Isabella we have reserved and the area seems rather non-touristy.
