   I ended up booking direct with Alamo car rental. I like Alamo because as a member of their free Insiders club I got a small discount (maybe 5%) off the price, but more importantly I can check in online and avoid the airport check in desk by simply going to the lot and picking out my car. So for me I don't see a great advantage to Priceline anymore.

However time pressures sometimes means it’s easier to see the sort of prices on offer on an aggregator site rather than traveling through each supplier individually. I’ve learned a lesson though. I'm sure there are lots more options, but found these to be the best.

If I had not gotten the bid I would have gone with Costco / Alamo, and their prices for midsized, standard, and full size were all the same.

Say pick-up on Friday at 9:00 am and drop-off on Saturday at 12:00 noon, it is considered a TWO-DAY rental with all the associated taxes and fees. Again, in the FAQ's. Priceline NYOP is fine so long as you know how it works.
