   1. Re: Children on Subway bottom up hike? The 10 year old, yes. I'm assuming he/she can hike 10 miles. An adult with a 3 yo in a carrier is a tough call. It would depend on the flow rate (ask at the Wilderness Desk) and how experienced that adult is in hiking with a child in a carrier. It's 10 miles and the hike out of the Canyon is pretty steep.

At 10:30 pm a friday or saturday night the 1 train will be fairly crowded. Weekday it wont be empty but not as busy.
