9 years ago. I am mapping out a massive USA Road Trip and had my route drive times on the website: roadtrippers.com. A couple times seems 'long' to me so I went to google maps & all times were significantly shorter (yippee!). Went to mapquest.com & times were similar to Google Maps BU each leg of trip was 15-30 minutes longer on mapquest.

We planned on our second night being at Ragged Point (20miles north of San Simeon). However MapQuest tells me the journey from Carmel will take just 1hour 45 mins!

  5. How to adjust Google/Mapquest travel times? - Tripadvisor

MapQuest and Google are great for directions, and general basic information. However, for the most part, those given time estimates are based on point to point at the legal posted speed limit, under ideal conditions. There really is no hard and fast formula for converting those distances into real world drive times within the parks.

We will be visitng YNP the third week in Sept. What is the best and quickest route from Denver to Yellowstone. We will be staying at the Lake Hotel in the Park. Mapquest suggests taking the I25 to Casper - Thermopolis - Cody route. but when we looked at the Atlas, it looks as if I80 west to Rock Springs then 191 North on through Jackson Hole would be a more picturesques and direct route.

Compared to the MapQuest route, the one outlined above will take you about 15 miles longer and is about 45 minutes longer. But I recommend it for the following reasons: -- parts of US Rt 2 east of Farmington aren't as good condition-wise as Rt 27 and Rt 3....

    1. Re: Best Route From Denver to Mesa Verde. 12 years ago. Mapquest is correct, that is the quickest route. Yes, it is two lane most of the way, but little traffic past Buena Vista. Glad mapquest recommends Hwy 112, it cuts off about 30 minutes of the trip. As long as you aren't leaving Denver on a Friday afternoon, traffic is usually pretty light.

  9. Fastest Route from Jackson to Denver - Wyoming Forum

Mapquest says to leave Jackson, drive north to Moran and then head east through Dubois, Casper and then down to Denver. I checked another online mapping source and it said to head south through Pinedale to Rock Springs and then take the Interstate to Cheyenne and down to Denver. I would think that the mapquest route in the most scenic.
