Brotherleelove and GB are absolutely right - shoulders should be covered, so the pashmina is a good idea – I always have a wide, light scarf with me in the summer for just this purpose. Dresses don't have to be ankle length, but knees should be covered – definitely NO shorts!

Re: Dress code for churches and monasteries. 14 years ago. Hi Gitte. you will be absolutely fine if your dress/trousers come down to mid shin but you must cover your arms/bare shoulders. As other correspondents have said, a pashmina is a good idea and I always carry one with me to protect from the sun anyway!
