Brotherleelove and GB are absolutely right - shoulders should be covered, so the pashmina is a good idea – I always have a wide, light scarf with me in the summer for just this purpose. Dresses don't have to be ankle length, but knees should be covered – definitely NO shorts!

As other correspondents have said, a pashmina is a good idea and I always carry one with me to protect from the sun anyway!
