3 years ago. Kirk, you did not rent a car from Priceline, you rented from a rental company and had Priceline book it. That means you are held to the terms you agreed to with both companies. You are not entitled automatically to a refund because you had personal things go wrong.
I would consider Priceline for a big discount, but not just to save a few bucks. I ended up booking direct with Alamo car rental . I like Alamo because as a member of their free Insiders club I got a small discount (maybe 5%) off the price, but more importantly I can check in online and avoid the airport check in desk by simply going to the lot ...

Hi, I have seen on here that it is a good idea to add a Thrifty Blue Chip number to our car hire booking so that we don’t have to wait as long at the desk. We booked ( and paid for) our car using Rentalcars.com ( we are in Australia).
The car company may require a credit card for the hold and then you can choose to pay with debit at the return. Without knowing which company PL will put you with, it's hard to say how much the deposit will be. Alamo usually only holds the reservation amount.
