   Hi! We are going to rent a car for two days to go from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon.. Reviewing the prices I see that when making the reservation directly in Avis it comes out for 397 dollars: 218 of the car, 89 of LDW and ALI (insurance) and 80 of taxes, while in Priceline for the same car for the same date it gives a total price of 203, indicates that this includes taxes and the two insurances.

   I've used Priceline several times in Las Vegas. Usually when I couldn't find a good deal using coupon codes or other deals. The last two times I got National and Hertz. You can specify airport pickup and that's what you'll get. It was like any other rental experience. With National, I booked economy and got a compact -- Mazda 3.

   I called Priceline and they admitted that the prepayment $261 is only for reservations fee not for car rental. The thrifty car rental said the prepayment not go to their pocket. In the early days i used to use Thrifty a lot but started getting cheaper prices elsewhere so stopped using them for that reason. Never had a problem with them. Reply. Report inappropriate content.

   It should be since you prepaid. Also, I don't think you would get Dollar or Thrifty, who usually want $350 mininum. I would still prefer going direct with the rental company to take advantage of the frequent renter programs, but sometimes Priceline and Hotwire completely beat the pants off them.
