It included all of the insurance and I had a worry-free trip. I booked again for a trip in 2020 it was going to cost me €897 for a compact automatic for 12 days.
I've been once before and rented thru Conn's Ireland Car Rental (they include full insurance) for 1 week, it was about $550 I think in 2019. This time I need a car for 13 days. With insurance (the only way Conns does it) the cost was Є1645. Thats close to $2000 which seems ridiculous to me. So I decided to use my Costco Citi Card insurance.
Costco membership car rental in Ireland. We are Costco members, and I realized that the car rental benefits extend to both Ireland and UK. Note that Citibank dropped ALL rental car coverage, worldwide, from all of their cards starting this week. I've read rumors that the Costco card may still have benefits, but even my $500 annual fee Prestige had coverage axed along with just about all other travel benefits.

Issuers of Visa cards didn't want to lose business to other banks issuing Mastercards, and Visa didn't provide coverage, so the banks started underwriting their own CDW and ended the Ireland exclusion. Chase and Citibank now offer the same insurance (for the most part) on all of their Visas and Mastercards, but the coverage is from the bank ...
3. Re: Car rental insurance coverage - in Ireland. 2 years ago. Liability coverage is required by Irish law -- and therefore, is INCLUDED on any rental -- even if you 'Waive' offered insurances. Just because a credit card offers coverage in Ireland, it does NOT mean that every car rental company ACCEPTS that coverage.
