They drew up the reservation and added $28 a day for insurance. I said there must be some mistake, that is way to high.
Then I tried calling Hertz customer service again for support, thinking the largest car rental company would fix this ASAP. Was I wrong, they were unhelpful and a complete waste of my time. I spent about 3 hours on the phone, to have them tell me it's a busy weekend and we have no cars to rent.

Hertz provided link to online app supposedly to help with getting car charged. But, could not download/access due to EU data protection laws! You would think Hertz would know about this restriction for travelers from USA. Attempted to call Hertz customer service for assistance ….. not one phone number worked.
I've joined 'Hertz Gold' membership and booked my car rental via the official Hertz phone line and have prepaid for the car on my credit card. They have my credit card details on file already. I am picking up at SLC airport and dropping off at SF. The rental is in my name. But I will be sharing the driving with my (same-sex) legal spouse.
