    Not quite true - we can call 1-800 numbers from the UK, but we are charged. I do it all the time. I'm not sure about the other way round, though, as I can't remember if I've tried to dial an 0-800 from the US. At best, you'll be able to connect but will be charged; at worst, you simply can't connect. Sorry not to be of further help.

    When I've called PIs from Canada on my home phone I've paid the rate Telus charges for any long distance calls, five cents a minute. You won't pay the 13 p per minute rate as you'll not be calling from the UK. As well, if you've provided a credit card for the booking then your room will be held even after 1800.
