It is very easy to drive back to baggage claim and pick up the other person with the bags. There is a sidewalk to the left of the parking lot. And a cross walk.

We left our time-punched parking ticket on the dashboard & dropped the keys in a secure key box. In 4+ decades of travel to Maui, we haven't had issues with car rentals.
11 years ago. I used the info/contact given here on the TA forums to rent a care from Luis Ceseña at Alamo (aeropuertoloscabos@alamorentacar.com.mx). He confirmed the rate and sent me a confirmation number, but no link or otherwise printable confirmation that contains all the information (dates, type of car, etc).

Just wanted to echo these views - just hired a car from Alamo LAX for 15 days. Very reasonable rates, incredibly helpful staff (thanks Ray at the desk and Rayle with the GPS help), very quick to pick up/drop off, rapid shuttle service back to the airport with a helpful driver and a terrific car. Top marks!
