I didn't book the Standard Rate room because a pool was not listed in their amenities and I swim laps almost every day.
15 years ago. Beware "Pig In A Poke" bookings! I just got burned by Hotwire. I booked a hotel at LAX in order to get rest before an allnight trip. After booking I learned (as is their normal procedures) that I would be staying at the Holiday Inn LAX. That sounded fine to me until I called the hotel directly to make a routine inquirey.
There are so many cases the process is not honest. At the end, they can simply unilaterally cancel it and refund your reservation money without cause. Hotwire and Expedia are reputable. Booking a hotel on Expedia is easy and safe. Hotwire is complex and not for you in this situation. You should book flights directly with the airline of your choice. At the time I booked, Hotwire was considerably cheaper than direct or through other OTA's. But over time, the prices started to drop via the other channels. If I would have waited to book about a week or two before my stay, I could have booked direct and secured a similar rate to the Hotwire rate that I reserved in advance.
