In the winter, we prefer the San Diego Zoo Safari Park over the San Diego Zoo. BUT the Safari Park is 1800 acres vs. 100 for the zoo. The Safari Park has no nearby other destinations, whereas the zoo is surrounded by Balboa Park. The Safari Park has only the Africa tram included in the entry...add on tours are pretty pricey.
