We called Airbnb at least 5 times within 24 hours of checking-in. No one answers the phone. After our trip, we requested partial refund with photo evidence uploaded to Airbnb and requested Airbnb to involve. Since then, 4 weeks have past, we haven't heard any feedback from Airbnb.
We then went to my son and attempted to get assistance directly from Airbnb, via phone and online, simultaneously. We were on the phone for over an hour trying to understand how we could get out of this situation. The "flexible" cancellation policy provides a refund for any time not used AFTER 24-hours notice.
It took scouring the website and creatively imagining ways to ferret out well-hidden information before we finally found a contact number to have someone clear up a mix-up I was unable to do online through normal channels.
