The Hong Kong Jockey Club ( HKJC) was founded in 1884 and is one of the oldest institutions in Hong Kong. Huge racetrack. Full, lively crowd during week of Chinese New Year. Entertainment, beer tents, concessions with limited food items. $10 Hong Kong admission (octopus pass can be used for entry fee). Early in evening very lively atmosphere, largely attended by Westerners. As the night goes on the place morphs into a night club vibe. Cheap night out!
The wife and I are planning to taking a day or evening horse racing tour when we arrive in Hong Kong but we were just wondering if night racing at the famous Happy Valley Racecourse on Hong Kong Island, or day racing on weekends at Sha Tin Racecourse in the New Territories would be the way to go .
