I recently have been looking for a rental with unlimited miles myself. Some car rentals like avis and budget advertise unlimited miles, but read the fine print. They often limit the so called "unlimited miles" to only a handful of states, with a 25 - 35 cent/mile surcharge for any miles outside of those states.
Budget says "Unlimited Mileage. When your car rental contract includes unlimited mileage, you can drive anywhere, as far as you like, without incurring mileage surcharges." r6lps can you point to a specific example where the Unlimited includes the restriction that you describe?
1) If your local you can only get 150 miles. 2) You cannot go out of state. 3) you must have a recent utility bill on hand. Why would i book a Car to travel out of state for unlimited miles under these conditions. It really wasn't the car companies problem this is there rules and i respect that.
We almost always rent from Budget at a local location (many miles from the airport,) reserved via Costco, and has always been with unlimited mileage. I have a reservation in with them for an upcoming trip and it is unlimited mileage, allowing travel to all 48 US states, plus Canada if we notify them and the their insurance paperwork.
Total price with Enterprise through Costco with no restrictions, unlimited mileage is $196. Obviously, any agency builds in a one-way or "drop fee" and it is never disclosed as such. The rates may also vary daily due to supply and demand. Report inappropriate content.
Most national car rental places allow unlimited miles, each franchise could put restrictions on it. the companies to look at are: Hertz, Avis, National , enterprise, Alamo, Dollar, thrifty,and budget. You need to talk to the individual places you are renting from to find out for sure.
