Having booked and paid for a car with Europe cars via Hertz, to travel the UK, 7 months prior, we were given no choice on pick up, but to up grade, as “apparently” no other cars had a GPS. The original cost being $2,500AUD, with another $2,000 AUD added on top. We were totally duped. Don’t hire through hertz or Europe cars.
There are quirks where the websites expect you to be resident of the site country (e.g. UK resident for UK site and penalise those that aren't). See if you have any discount (CDP) codes available - sometimes from a work/employee programme, club membership, loyalty programme or offer from the web.
