   I have purchased contacts here in Thailand.. Unlike in *most* other countries, you can readily buy them without proper prescription or script from a number of optometry shops. The contact I use-- Accuvue2's-- are readily available here.. The supply sold here are all made in Ireland or Japan and imported to Thailand..

You can literally walk into any Kruidvat, Etos, Hema etc etc and buy all the contact lenses you want. No prescription needed. Whether or not that’s a good thing, is a whole different matter.

You should go to eye hospital first, get the official doctor's prescription before you are able to buy prescription glasses (or even contact lenses). Opticians in Turkey will not allow you to buy the prescription glasses without doctor's prescription unfortunately.

Even if you have a prescription with you if it's an older prescription the place may tell you they need to perform their own exam. Many places offer a free exam but as for the contacts themselves I don't think you'll find the price much difference than at home.
