The Vermont State House, located in Montpelier, is the state capitol of the U.S. state of Vermont. It is the seat of the Vermont General Assembly. The current Greek Revival structure is the third building on the same site to be used as the State House. Designed by Thomas Silloway in 1857 and 1858, it was occupied in 1859.

It is free to walk into the Vermont State House and walk around inside. Hours are 7:45 A. M. to 4:15 P. M. Monday thru Friday. Closed on Saturdays and Sundays. When entering, you have to go through the metal detector, take off your wristwatch, etc.
Feb 2017 • Business. The Pavilion Building is located a stone's throw from the Vermont State House. The building is historic and is home to the Historical Society and some state offices. The building is not the style one might expect of a state office building - but look hard and the deep verandas and high ceilings.

Lots of beauty inside. Very colorful carpets. Governor's real office is located down the street since there really isn't much room in this Capitol for his staff. My wife and I are in the process of visiting all 50 state capitols and we were quite impressed with the Augusta State Capitol. This is a must see and it is free!
