So since then I've been using Google flights for price comparisons. However, I can't find a way to eliminate Basic Economy fares from the search. You can include overhead bin access, but that doesn't eliminate BE fares anymore as (I think) both AA and Delta allow overhead bin access with BE fares, so it would only eliminate Delta BE fares.
11. Re: clarification about using Google flights. "Separate tickets booked together" is one of several ways Google Flights can display misleading results these days. It's always a red flag. Sometimes, as OP found, the individual "separate" tickets are not actually bookable on the airline websites at the listed prices.
If I search for a multi city trip on Google flight, one option presented works well with fares and times, however, it mentions that the 2 flights must be booked separately (one after the other) (AA and Delta). When I go to the relevant airlines' sites, it gives me this option. Pricing these flights separately, prices are significantly higher.

What I've found is that these search engines return flights of about $1800-$1900 with full service airlines (British Airways, Singapore Airlines, Dutch Airways, Air France etc..) But because they're often split among 2/3 non-partner airlines they can't be booked on the same ticket (when booking directly with the airline ).
