Re: cell service. 10 years ago. VZ doesn't actually operate the cell system in PR anymore. They sold it to América Móvil in 2007 who rebranded wireless service as Claro. Verizon retains a service agreement with Claro, so PR is still part of the extended service network. As long as your phone says "Extended Service" instead of "Roaming" you ...

1. Re: Local Claro Phone. Maybe, maybe not, you will need to go into the Claro store and ask. If someone else now has the number then it's done. When you get a sim card you are supposed to register it with residency number or passport number, if you di this then there is a good chance you can get it back , best to visit Claro in the Megaplaza Mall.

there is a claro shop at the Airport Punta Cana, it's at the depature hall (the old one) The closest Claro & Orange shop to the Bahia Resort I know is at Plaza Larimar ( oposide of the gasstation "la Bomba" in Bavaro) and Plaza Caney 2 minutes to walk from plaza Larimar :-) Hope I could help. sunny greetings.
