The closest entrance is the Moose Wilson road. It is narrow, winding and only a short part is paved. It is fun to drive it and look for wildlife but can take 45 minutes to get to Moose in GTNP. If you go early then going thru Jackson, up by airport and to GTNP can be pretty quick.

Stop at Dornan's or the General Store deli at Colter Bay and pick up fresh made sandwiches to go, etc. You are traveling with a cooler and this seems like a good option to me.

A) get up early and drive (7:30am) directly to Old Faithful (~9am) spend the morning walking the upper geyser basin and have lunch there. After lunch continue around to the north seeing the other geyser basins. Continue to Norris and Canyon and back to Fishing Bridge.
