AARP rates are not significant, maybe 8% before taxes and fees. Priceline has the best car rental rates. We have used them many times and have never had a problem. You do have to pay up-front, and if something happens and you do not take your trip you still have to pay for the car through Priceline.

110 helpful votes. 6. Re: extra charge on Hertz car rental for being over 65. 12 years ago. For a Hertz reservation, they ask your age in this manner: 18-19, 20-24 or 25+. There is no mention of a charge for a 65+ driver. I called them and got the same information. I think there is some misunderstanding here.
