Campus is pretty safe but East of High street can be shady. If he is a freshman, he will live in the dorms and those are well secured. OSU is not within walking distance to downtown Columbus. Most students hang out on High street and do not venture much downtown. There is not much to do there except in the Arena district and the Short North ...

    3. Re: Areas that are safe for visitors. 13 years ago. The Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal with its Children's Museum, Museum of Natural History and Science, and Cincinnati History Museum, is a great place to visit with children. It is like any big city - you need to be careful and look around. We do tend to have a lot of panhandlers in some areas. Downtown Cleveland has some nice areas - the Warehouse District where all the upscale restaurants are located, the area near the Rock and Roll Hall of fame, Great Lakes Science Center, Tower City, etc.

  9. Traveling to Columbus in two weeks, places to avoid ...

    www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g50226-i364-k...

Columbus is a hidden gem. However, it is too bad you are staying in Dublin,as the zoo is about the only thing in that area. Nice area, but closer to the city would be much better. There is a hotel in Upper Arlington (The Homewood Suites, I believe) which would be a better choice. Upper Arlington is a beautiful suburb with older homes, trees ...
