At the end of our stay in Lisbon, my husband and I intend to rent a car (for 15 days) at the airport, tour all around, then drop it off at the Porto airport, at the beginning of our stay, there. I've read on the forum that many folks recommend renting through Zest and/or Masterkings, and I've looked at both websites.
Wife and I are coming to visit Portugal for a week and are looking to rent a car to drive from Lisbon down to Lagos and the south coast for a few days. Just looking for recommendations for companies to book with (or companies NOT to book with). I drive standard and will have my international driver's license.
Re: car rental. 1 year ago. Save. We rented a Europcar from AutoEurope (helpful consolidator company in USA) in 2019 and were very satisfied. We like using AutoEurope to book as their staff are very helpful, compare major companies prices, help you pick the best carand add-ons for your needs. They offer reasonable insurance too.

Things to do before you go: * Decide on a hire car company, and book the car in advance (this can be much cheaper than renting when you arrive, plus saves you time). * Decide if you want excess waiver insurance, and book it in advance. * Decide on your sat nav strategy. The car had lots of miles on it, so there were many, many scratches and dings. We took pictures of everything and went over the damage sheet with the person giving us the car. Then, when we arrived at the Lisbon airport, the agent looked at all the previous notes on the damage sheet and said we were fine.
