Personally, I’m on O2 and just pay the £6/day and use my phone as normal, speeds aren’t outstanding but perfectly doable for normal day to day stuff.

I've just bought my wife an IPhone 7 with 30gb storage at £300 cheaper than in the uk and it's unlocked genuine and working perfectly. Buy in the likes of Dubai mall and you won't have a problem. Report inappropriate content.
Also check the warranty. Some electronic stuff you buy in Dubai does not come with world-wide warranty. And flying back into the Middle East for a warranty case will be expensive. The times where electronic stuff in Dubai was cheap are over. Finally calculate in any taxes / duties you may have to pay at your country of residence.
