2. Re: Seats on United if booked as codeshare through Lufthansa. You will need to get the United record locator from Lufthansa and then go to the United site, login and choose your seats there using that locator. You should have both a United and a LH record locator. Works in reverse the same way.

I booked a flight on Swiss Airlines (SFO - ZRH) through the United Airlines site simply because it was a direct flight and also the cheapest at the time.

I haven't booked these yet, but I need to book flights from SFO -> Frankfurt -> Nairobi -> SFO. Turns out that the SFO-> Frankfurt flight is on United, the remaining are on Lufthansa (codeshare).
