i use google maps all the time, they are especially good for avoiding traffic delays e.g. taking the back roads around christchurch at peak time. I find them really helpful for directions. The timings can be a bit low, but they are a great place to start, and just add on a bit extra time for each drive,
If I were making this drive, I'd cut over to the west on I-10 to pick up 27 and drive it all of the way. Use Google maps to "see" the route. Put in Tampa > Bluffton, GA > Rome, GA > Chickamauga, GA. It's pretty much a straight shot north. It's going to take longer to drive because you are going through small towns, Be sure to honor speed limits.
I’ve found Google Maps to be very reliable in France.The “offline” feature works really well if you don’t have data coverage. I don’t drive in France myself but I spend a lot of time in the passenger seat beside a professional who does, and his go-to app is Google plus a paper Michelin atlas.
