According to the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce: 5% sales tax. 2% state accomadations tax. 2.5% local hospitality tax. .5% local accomadations tax. 10% total tax. Some hotels add a Resort fee but hotels tack this on themselves and local/state government has nothing to do with it. I have no problem with this except it should be stated up front.
2. Re: accommodation tax refund. 1 year ago. here's a link to the SC Department of Revenue regulations. It appears that a stay of more than 90 days is not taxed as short-term, but I see nothing about refunds. If you have paid the tax already, you should first ask the operator whether they have remitted it, and whether they'll help you get it back.

In Horry County the total rate is 12% unless inside the City Limits of Myrtle Beach where it is 13%. I am not sure if the city of NORTH Myrtle Beach has the 12 or 13%.
