Answer 1 of 15: We visited Oahu from 2/20 to 3/5, and had decent weather. The vacation started as soon as we boarded Hawaiian Airline at JFK. About 1 hour in we got a little snack and beverage service, followed almost immediately by a pasta lunch service.

So I reserved a car with the Discount Hawaii Car rental website and so far got it down from $425 to $374, using Alamo. However, I can get the same car /extra driver with them through Dollar for $330. I went with Alamo originally because you can pick your car.
6 years ago. Dollar/Thrifty (same company) is the worst out of all the major US companies. I would still use them but go in being prepared and stand up to anything you don't agree with. Many people that seldom rent car's fall into these different traps. Trip Advisor forums are full of negative stories about various car rental companies.

Answer 1 of 8: Hi everyone, We need to rent a car for a couple of days on our next trip. Last time we were in Hawaii we used Hertz and had no problems, but they are much more expensive than Dollar this time.
9 years ago. Thank you. I just checked Yelp reviews and Dollar gets 1.5 stars and Thrifty gets 2.5 stars. Both have over 100 reviews. Thrifty complaints seem to be long waits. Dollar seems to be long waits and unexpected charges that weren't agreed to. Thrifty seems to be the best of the two. Report inappropriate content.
