Hi all - we're long time Shelter Cove Piggly Wiggly shoppers and understand that it has closed, and a new Kroger has opened nearby at the old mall. We have to find a new store when we come to the island this year in June.

You will pass by there on your way. There is a Kroger and Lowes Foods on up the road a bit and a Wal Mart about 4 miles north of you.

Even though we were within walking distance, we couldn't carry all of our heavy items. Plus, we didn't want to waste precious time going to the store! Just an option.....

KJ's Market first opened in Florence, South Carolina in 2006. On September 1, 2020, it was announced that the chain acquired 20 former BI-LO locations from Southeastern Grocers. In 2021, the stores were rebranded as KJ's, IGA and Lowes Foods .
Both are good grocery stores. The Piggly Wiggly has more take out and is stocked more with tourist-needed things like Boogie Boards, etc, with the Bi-Lo having a smaller section, less take out, and is more a "locals" grocery store. 3.
