To experience the whole selection of pies you have to get there early – they start serving pie at 10:30 a.m. and typically run out of most flavors by mid-afternoon. Our visit to Rock Creek Lakes Resort was our 2nd. Their cabins are very clean, comfortable beds, and fully stocked with need appliances, cookware, and eating utensils. Exterior decks all have views among beautiful trees with abundant wildlife within view. Rock Creek Lake is just across the street with excellent fishing and boat rentals.
They have built new cabins, maintained and upgraded them while maintaining the integrity and spirit of Rock Creek, and provided a great kitchen with fabulous "heavenly" pies. My children were raised coming up every summer until things got too hectic during the high school years.
We ordered a peach pie and a boysenberry pie, both with vanilla ice cream. WOW!!! The pies were so delicious and warm. The vanilla ice cream was flavorful and perfect for the pies. So glad we were able to get their yummy pies this trip to Mammoth. Thanks to the Rock Creek Lakes Resort family for being so genuinely nice, friendly and helpful ...
The owners are personable, and work hard to keep the place going. Fishing is a great, and the small store as anything you may have forgotten. Don't miss a slice of the daily homemade pie, at the "Pie in the Sky." $7 a slice, so a bit steep in price, but it was really, really good. Date of stay: July 2012.
