The Pennsylvania State Capitol Police Force was established in 1895 under Governor Daniel Hartman Hastings, the state's 21st Governor. The AA baseball team (Harrisburg Senators) play at a stadium located on an island in the middle of the Susquehanna River. Get there via an old span bridge now reserved solely for pedestrians. Beautiful walk, less than 5 minutes from the hotel. Try the paddleboat ride in the afternoon. Very nice. Kayak/canoe rentals as well.
