What I don’t like about Hertz, they charge you each and every day of the rental, even if you never go through another toll. The max is $24 or so, but it’s just flat out wrong.
Thus, under the terms of the program, if you rent a car for 5 days and on the 5th day you use your EZ Pass, you are charged an extra $24.75 administrative fee for five days, more than twice the most expensive toll in the NYC area. My issue is that these costs are not disclosed immediately because of the way Hertz issues rental contracts.
Generally if you rent close enough to New York City, you can still return to JFK or Manhattan.
