    Please make sure you take photos of everything. The insurance adds up, but imho it is a necessary evil. My brother in law was being charged for a miniscule chip in the windsheild that only the rental car could have known about and had been there forever.

    It seems like you can get cheap rentals on Orbitz for Europcar, Hertz, National, etc, but the insurance offered is only the $9/day option. If you go to the Hertz website directly, the insurance costs are much much more, doubling the total price of the rental.

    Credit Card insurance is not a good idea in Mexico. Far better to rent from one of the local agencies like easyway, avant or america. They offer all necessary insurances at a reasonable price, and are far cheaper than the big chains.
